Photographic Friday – a weekly peek at our travels

Welcome to this slightly late edition of my weekly peek at our travels, through my camera lens. A chance for me to develop my skills and give you a unique perspective not seen elsewhere on our social media platforms.

I’ve reached a stage where my weekly posting is becoming a pressure, all self-induced of course, so I am going to scale back my postings to fortnightly in the hope that brings me more joy than pressure. And whilst my posts are not for gratification, it is for my growth, when that growth has an impact on my stress and enjoyment, then something needs to change. My photographic journey is as much about how I feel as the quality of my shots. So I hope that this adjustment, at least temporarily will help my journey.

This week we take a quick peek at Bilbao on Spain’s north coast, on their Carnaval Day, just before we took the ferry to Southern Ireland. And from this point forward, my shots will take us on an Irish journey, travelling through the countryside of the Emerald Isle. A place we’ve been to on two previous trips in Scoobie. I hope you like my shots.

1. Bilbao – Spain

Bilbao is one of those cities that continually surprises and delights me. We’re not big on cities, although Bilbao has so many perspectives to it from the modern Guggenheim museum to the cobbled streets of the old town. It is a joy to come here.

2. Emerald Isle – week 1

Ireland is such a soft and romantic energy with its colourful villages, atmospheric bars selling Guinness and the charm that can only be found on this little slice of heaven. It serves a really positive purpose for us as we try to navigate Schengen allowances, as although in Europe, Ireland is not part of Schengen. Plus the ferries from Spain to Ireland are significantly cheaper, easier to get on and a lot quieter than the UK ferries. So there’s every reason to want to come here, if the weather is good. We’ve only had a few days here, although the beaches of the SE coast, pounded by the same Atlantic waters that we have witnessed in Portugal and the historic inland always endears us to this land.

3. Abstract images

And of course to finish are the abstract images that caught my eye that need to make their presence felt on this week’s blog.

Short and sweet this week, as we’ve had a lot of travel time and stationary in one place and I’ve taken time to rest from all things to recalibrate myself. And as a reminder, it will be every two weeks from this point forward. I hope you’ve enjoyed our short trip through Bilbao and Ireland, with so many more captivating images to come in a couple of week’s time. Kx
